2022 Wedding Photography Highlights

Can you believe it…2022 has gone by in a flash. As I type this there are only a few days left until Christmas, the house is rammed with far too much food, my lad is counting down the days on his advent calendar, and I still have a few more gifts to purchase (I leave it late every year!)

It’s safe to say the wedding industry has now come back with a bang, and I have had the privilege of photographing weddings across Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Coventry, Oxfordshire, Manchester, Norfolk, and many more locations around the UK. When I first started out as a wedding photographer way back in 2015, I never dreamed I would be travelling as far and wide as I do.

2022 has been a really busy year, full of so many highs that it’s hard to put it into words. (I usually prefer the photographs to do all of the talking!) I am not ashamed to say that I have worked my butt off the past seven years, and finally took the plunge, going full-time with the business this year. I worked in the care industry for 15 years, as well as ran my business, so as you can imagine, my life was pretty hectic. Things are still busy now mind you, if not more than ever, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.

This year I dived into the world of ‘wedding photography awards’, and have been lucky enough to have won a few awards along the way which is pretty amazing. I’m not in it to make myself look good but to simply make me want to create better imagery, as it has honestly pushed me more than I ever thought it would. I do find it a little cheesy to call myself an award-winning wedding photographer, but I guess I can now right?

I would personally like to say a huge thank you to all the couples that booked me for this year, and would also like to thank all of the wedding guests, wedding venue staff, etc. (You get the idea!) for making me feel so welcome on the day.

To my 2023 couples and beyond, I will tell you now that I cannot wait to rock up on your wedding day and have the best time with you all. I say this as I have already had the pleasure of talking to many of you, either in person or over the phone, and by the sounds of it, we are going to get on like a house on fire!

I would like to thank every couple, for putting their full trust in me. I know now more than ever that couples want and need a photographer that can deliver on the day, without any stress or fuss, as they want to enjoy their day to the fullest without even realising I am there so to say. (and rightly so!)

Creating ‘wow’ wedding portraits, while documenting your wedding day in the most natural way is still what I am all about. There’s nothing better than capturing the hugs, the tears, the laughter, and everything in between. As much as I do enjoy creating cool portraits for couples, I ensure that I can achieve it in next to no time at all, as I believe that real moments win over anything. I want the wedding couple to spend as much time with their loved ones as possible, as that’s what really matters.

I may be a solo wedding shooter, but I have also built up an incredible network with other wedding photographers all across the UK, which has been a bit of a lifeline. If I have any questions, they are there to help every step of the way, just as I would for them. The fact is the wedding photography world is an incredibly competitive place, so meeting like-minded photographers that are happy to share their knowledge is priceless.

Most wedding photographers including me don’t like to admit the fact that they shoot weddings for themselves, but I can also say that at the same time we all shoot with the intention of creating incredible works of art, that you, your family, and friends can cherish forever, as we care so much about what we do.

The amount of time we spend in the background, editing, tweaking, and making your photographs shine is pretty scary, but it’s all worth it in the end. YOU are what matters, as without you we couldn’t do what we love. I put my heart and soul into every wedding, and I know that will never change, as I care about what I do.

2023 is filling up nicely, and I look forward to seeing how it unfolds. The UK as a whole is packed with absolutely stunning wedding venues, which I cannot wait to visit. Due to me shooting all over the UK, I don’t tend to shoot at the same venue more than once. This year was a little different though, as I visited the same venue a number of times (Which isn’t a bad thing) so I would like to give a shout-out to these venues, as I will be returning again in 2023. So a big hello to Dodmoor House, Whittlebury park, The Granary at Fawsley, Dodford Manor, Sedgebrook Hall, and Horwood House.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog, below are a selection of my favourite highlights from 2022!

I hope you all have a magical Christmas and New Year!
