Bedfordshire is just over the border from me. I was born and raised in Northamptonshire, and the drive down to Bedford or Ampthill is an easy one, so I’m never rushing in at the last minute.
At The White Hart in Ampthill, Emily and Victoria had their two dogs join them for the confetti, stopped halfway down the line for a kiss and got a huge cheer from everyone. If you want a wedding like that, relaxed and properly yours, you’re in the right place.
Who I Am and How I Work
I’m Lewis, a documentary wedding photographer. I’ve photographed over 250 weddings since 2015, and I work in a natural, unobtrusive way, which mostly means you’ll forget I’m there until you see the photos.
Your wedding should feel like a wedding, not a photoshoot. So I keep the organising to the bits that need it, the confetti, family groups and a few portraits, and spend the rest of the day watching. The nervous laugh before the vows. The dad pretending he isn’t welling up. The friend who’s on the dance floor before the first dance has finished.
Emily and Victoria got ready in rooms a few doors apart at The White Hart, so I could nip between the two without missing either side of the morning. Emily’s room was all excitement. Victoria was a little more nervous and smiling all the way through it. Both completely normal, and both made for lovely photos.
Not a Fan of Posing? Good.
Neither are most of the couples I photograph.
Portraits take around 15 minutes. I’ll pick a spot with good light, tell you where to stand and what to do with your hands, and keep it easy. Then you’re back with your guests before anyone’s had time to miss you.
At The White Hart we used the garden paths and the pond for a few quiet minutes away from everyone, then the front of the old coaching inn for something with a bit more Ampthill about it. Later we popped back out as the light changed. That was it, back to the party.

When everything happens in one place, nobody’s being bundled into cars and the day keeps its momentum. At The White Hart, the ceremony, wedding breakfast, speeches and party were all in The Stables, a room with exposed brick and oak beams that gets warmer and more atmospheric as the evening goes on.

A Few Planning Tips
Ask your venue early where photos would happen. At The White Hart the garden behind the pub was the standout spot, and the outdoor path made an easy confetti line straight after the ceremony. Things like dogs and confetti are worth checking with the venue directly, as the rules can change.
If you’re tempted by a big estate, look at how far the nice bits are from where your guests will be. If the best portrait spot is a ten minute walk away, that’s twenty minutes away from your own party. Keeping things close is how I work, and you can see what couples made of it in their reviews.

In the years I’ve been doing this I’ve worked through blazing sun, sideways rain, ceremony rooms with hardly any light and dance floors that get properly messy. Barns, hotels, marquees, pubs, the lot.
So if the forecast changes or the timings slip, I don’t panic. I quietly adjust and keep going, and you probably won’t even know there was a problem.

What areas do you cover as a wedding photographer in Bedfordshire?
I’m based in Northamptonshire, right on Bedfordshire’s doorstep, so Bedford, Ampthill, Luton and everywhere in between are easy for me to reach. I travel further too, anywhere in the UK, and I’ve photographed weddings abroad in Mexico and Cyprus.
Can you describe your wedding photography style?
Mostly documentary wedding photography, with a few creative wedding portraits mixed in. I photograph what happens rather than setting things up, and I’ll organise the practical bits, like the confetti line and the family groups, so they’re done quickly.
A lot of my weddings are in my home county of Northamptonshire and the counties around it, so the blog is full of real weddings if you want to see how a whole day looks from start to finish.
What does your wedding photography package include?
Packages start with the Half Day at £1,195, which is 6 hours and 300+ photos. The Full Day is £1,695 for 10 hours and 500+ photos, and The Full Day + Album adds a 10×10 album of 80 images for £1,995. That’s the most popular one. At the top, The Full Shebang is £2,395 for 12 hours, 700+ photos, a 12×12 album and a mini accordion book. So albums come with those last two only. Every package includes a private online gallery with unlimited downloads, and every photo is edited by me.
How long will it take to receive our wedding photos?
Within 48 hours you’ll have 20 sneak peeks to share, and a highlights slideshow follows within a week. The full gallery comes once I’ve been through and edited every image myself. I’ll let you know the timings for your date when you book.
What kind of wedding venues in Bedfordshire have you worked at?
The White Hart in Ampthill, an old coaching inn, where Emily and Victoria had their ceremony, meal and party in The Stables. Just outside Luton, Demi and Matt’s wedding at the White Horse in Tea Green. Beyond that I’ve photographed weddings at country houses, barns and hotels all over the Midlands and further afield, so a bigger estate won’t faze me either.
How do we book you as our Bedfordshire wedding photographer?

Do you do engagement sessions too?
I do. It’s a relaxed session somewhere you like, and a good chance to get used to me and the camera before the wedding. If you’re nervous about portraits, it can make the wedding day feel a lot easier. Ask me about it when we chat.
Do you photograph smaller weddings?
Definitely. Emily and Victoria’s wedding at The White Hart was a close, informal day in one room, and that’s exactly why it worked so well. The Half Day package gives you 6 hours, which covers a lot of smaller weddings, and extra hours are £150 if you need a bit more. Tell me what you’ve got planned and I’ll be honest about what you need.
Can family and friends see our photos too?
