Award-Winning Documentary Wedding Photographer

Hi, I’m Lewis, a UK wedding photographer based in Northamptonshire, specialising in relaxed, documentary led wedding photography for couples who want the real story of their day captured properly, without feeling awkward, staged, or dragged away from the party.

Most couples book me because they want brilliant photos without the day feeling awkward, staged, or like one long photoshoot. They want to enjoy their wedding, spend time with their favourite people, and trust that the moments that matter are being captured properly.

That is exactly how I work.

I blend in with your guests, keep things relaxed, and capture the day as it really felt, not how it looked when everyone was told to stand still and smile on command.

Getting married in Northamptonshire, here’s my Northamptonshire wedding photographer page.

Mostly real moments. A few relaxed portraits. No wedding day takeover.

Most of the day is photographed naturally as it happens. When portraits or family groups need organising, I keep things calm, quick, and easy, so you can get back to the people you actually invited.

For most of the wedding, I stay out of the way and let things unfold naturally. No forcing moments. No constant directing. No turning your wedding into a photoshoot.

95% real moments you’ll actually remember. 5% effortless portraits that look bloody good.

Have a look through my portfolio and you’ll see what I mean. Real reactions, relaxed portraits, proper dance floor chaos, and the kind of moments you cannot fake.

What You’re Actually Getting (And Why It Matters)

Real Lives, Real Memories, Real Moments, Captured…

  • Over 250 Weddings of Experience
I’ve photographed over 250 weddings in manor houses, barns, marquees, city venues, registry offices, and just about everything in between. I know how to read a room, spot moments before they happen, and stay calm when timings go a bit wonky. Because they do. Usually right when someone says “we’re bang on time.”
  • You’ll barely notice me, and that’s the point
A lot of couples tell me afterwards that they forgot I was even there, while somehow still ending up with photos of everything that mattered. That is the sweet spot.
I blend in naturally, get on with your guests, and capture the real stuff as it happens. The hugs, the nerves, the laughter, the proud looks, the chaos, the quiet moments, the big reactions, all the bits that make your wedding feel like your wedding.
  • Quick, relaxed portraits, not a 45 minute disappearance
You do not need to be amazing in front of the camera. Most of my couples say they feel awkward before the wedding, then end up telling me portraits were one of the easiest parts of the day.
I keep them short, relaxed, and gently guided, usually around 10 to 15 minutes at a time. No standing around wondering what to do with your hands. No being dragged away from your guests for ages. Just some really lovely photos, a bit of a laugh, and then back to your wedding.
  • Real help, before and during the day
From the moment you book, I’m here to help. Whether it is timeline advice, random questions, or calming things down on the day, I’m not the sort of photographer who vanishes until the morning of the wedding.
You can message me any time, and I’ll always keep things honest, easy, and straightforward.
  • Fast previews, proper storytelling
You will not be left waiting around wondering how everything turned out.
I send sneak peeks within a few days, so you can relive it all while it still feels fresh. Your full gallery is edited by me, in my style, with care and consistency throughout.
The goal is not just a set of nice photos. It is a gallery that brings the whole day flooding back.
  • Award winning work, without making the day feel like a shoot
My work has been recognised for documentary storytelling and creative portraits, but the real win is always the same, helping you feel relaxed enough to enjoy your day while I capture it properly.
The awards are lovely. The experience matters more.

You’re probably my kind of couple if…

You feel a bit awkward in front of the camera.
You want natural photos, but still want to look good.
You care more about real moments than perfect posing.
You want portraits, but not a 45 minute hostage situation.
You want to enjoy the day, not spend it being directed.
You want someone calm, experienced, and easy to have around.
You want your wedding captured properly without it becoming a photoshoot.
If that sounds like you, you are exactly the kind of couple I work best with.

What couples say afterwards

“He felt like a friend.”
“We barely noticed him.”
“He made us feel so relaxed.”
“The portraits felt natural and easy.”
“He captured moments we didn’t even realise had happened.”
“Our guests loved him too.”
“He didn’t just photograph the day, he made it better by being there.”
That is always the aim.

Where I work

I’m based in Northamptonshire and photograph weddings all over the UK, especially across the Midlands and nearby counties including Warwickshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Bedfordshire, Derbyshire, and Leicestershire.

If you’re getting married in Northamptonshire, this is my usual patch. If your wedding is further afield, still get in touch. I travel for the right weddings and I’ll always be upfront about what that looks like.

Planning Your Wedding? Let’s Talk.

If you’re looking for a photographer who values real moments, avoids awkward posing, and lets you enjoy your day without turning it into a three-hour photoshoot, get in touch.

Even if you’re early in planning and just need someone you can trust, I’m happy to talk through your plans.

No pressure, no hard sell, no “limited availability this week only” nonsense. Just an honest conversation about your day and whether I’m the right fit.

No forms disappearing into a void. No awkward sales chat. Just a proper conversation.

You’ll get a reply from me, not an assistant, usually the same day. We’ll see if we’re a good fit, and if so, I’ll walk you through the next steps.

WhatsApp works best, but email’s fine too if you prefer.

Faqs

What kind of wedding photographer are you?

I’m a relaxed, documentary led wedding photographer based in Northamptonshire, photographing weddings across the UK. Most of the day is captured naturally, with a small amount of relaxed guidance for portraits and family groups.

Do you photograph weddings outside Northamptonshire?

Yes. I photograph weddings across the Midlands and throughout the UK, including Warwickshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Bedfordshire, Derbyshire, and Leicestershire.

What if we feel awkward in front of the camera?

That is completely normal. Most of my couples say the same before booking. I keep portraits simple, relaxed, and gently guided, so you are never left standing there wondering what to do with your hands.

How long do couple portraits take?

Usually around 10 to 15 minutes at a time. I would rather give you brilliant portraits quickly than drag you away from your guests for ages.

Do you take family group photos?

Yes. I recommend keeping the list short and meaningful, usually around 10 key group photos. That way we get the important people photographed without it taking over the day.

Do you work alone?

Yes, I usually photograph weddings solo. After 250+ weddings, I know how to cover the full story of a wedding day without needing a huge production around me.

When will we receive our photos?

You’ll receive sneak peeks shortly after the wedding, with your full gallery professionally edited and delivered online.

How do we book you?

Get in touch to check your date. If I’m available and we’re a good fit, I’ll send over your booking portal where you can secure the date with a 20% deposit.
