Buckinghamshire has given me some of my favourite wedding days. One guest at Huntsmill Farm launching an entire box of confetti into the air. A groom and his mates playing a surprise live set at Notley Tythe Barn. A bride at Winters Tale Country Barn winning the hammer game, fair and square. I’m Lewis. I’m based just up the road in Northamptonshire, so north Bucks and Milton Keynes are practically next door, and the rest of the county isn’t much further. I photograph relaxed, documentary led weddings, quietly getting on with it while you enjoy the people you invited.

Most couples tell me the same thing on our first call: “we’re not great in front of the camera”. Join the club. That’s exactly why I work the way I do.
I keep things relaxed and honest rather than stiff or over directed. The nerves before the ceremony. The quiet glances. The big laughs. The hugs that last a second longer than planned.
Fun, Relaxed and Documentary Led
Most of the day, I’m just quietly getting on with it. Morning nerves, the ceremony, the drinks reception and the dance floor, all photographed as it happens, without stopping anything for the camera.

There’ll still be a few portraits of the two of you, but they’re quick, around 15 minutes, and you won’t be stood there wondering what to do with your hands. A bit of gentle guidance, then you’re back to the celebrations.

How I Photograph Weddings Across Buckinghamshire
Every wedding is different, but here’s roughly how it goes, with a few real moments from Buckinghamshire weddings along the way.
Morning preparations
Plenty of Bucks barn venues have getting ready cottages close together, so I can move between you both without anyone needing a car. At Helen and Graham’s Huntsmill Farm wedding, Helen’s mum brought an air fryer and made bacon sandwiches for everyone. That’s the sort of thing I’m there for.
Ceremony
Respectful and unobtrusive. I watch the room as much as the two of you: the parent trying to keep it together, the friends swapping a look, the little laugh when something doesn’t quite go to plan.
Wedding party and group photos
Quick and organised. At Winters Tale Country Barn, Kate and Luke wanted family groups and no couple portraits at all, so we did the groups in the courtyard and they went straight back to their guests. Totally fine, by the way. Your day, your call.
Couple portraits
Short, natural and gently guided. At Babna and Luis’s winter wedding at Notley Tythe Barn, the low sun came out just after the ceremony, so I drove them up the hill for one quick angle and had them back before their reception got going.
Evening celebrations
Then I stay for the party. At Stacey and Harley’s Huntsmill Farm wedding, the dance floor didn’t care about age, shoes or dignity by the end of the night, and I was there for all of it.

Coverage runs from 6 hours with the Half Day to 12 with The Full Shebang. The Full Day covers 10 hours, which usually takes you from prep into the evening.
Every Image Edited by Me
Every photograph you get is edited individually by me. Same care on the confetti shot as on the one of your auntie mid sneeze. No bulk processing, no shortcuts.
Sneak Peeks and Your Gallery
You’ll get 20 sneak peeks within 48 hours and a highlights slideshow within a week. Then everything lands in a private online gallery with unlimited high resolution downloads, ready to share and print.
Albums
Albums come with The Full Day + Album (10×10) and The Full Shebang (12×12). If you’ve ever meant to print your holiday photos and never got round to it, this is the answer.
Wedding Photography Throughout Buckinghamshire
From countryside barns to big old houses, Buckinghamshire weddings vary a lot, and so does the way each venue works on the day. Knowing that in advance means I can keep things calm, whatever the timeline or the weather throws at us.
What I’ve Learned at Buckinghamshire Venues
I’m not technically local, Northamptonshire’s home, but north Bucks is right on my doorstep and I’ve been back to venues like Huntsmill Farm and Horwood House a few times now.
Horwood House is near Milton Keynes, Huntsmill Farm is out towards Buckingham, and Notley Tythe Barn is down near Thame, with Rackleys looking out over the Chiltern Hills. Each one works differently on the day.
A few things that experience helps with:
- Knowing where to head when the weather turns, like the grand staircase at Horwood House
- Knowing which venues keep everything close, so prep, ceremony and drinks don’t need a convoy of cars
- Knowing the rules worth checking early, like confetti, which Notley Tythe Barn currently asks you to swap for bubbles (worth checking with the venue)
So I turn up prepared, not working it out as I go.
Wedding Venues Across Buckinghamshire and Beyond
Buckinghamshire does barns very well, and it has its share of grand old houses too. At Horwood House, the Secret Garden is one of my favourite spots, quiet enough for portraits and big enough for groups. I’ve also photographed a wedding at Notley Abbey.
Over the border, I photograph weddings in Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Bedfordshire and Derbyshire, plus Oxfordshire and the edge of the Cotswolds.

Can you describe your wedding photography style?
Documentary led, with a few creative wedding portraits thrown in. I photograph what’s really happening, the cheeky bits, the emotional bits and the chaos, without asking you to perform. I’ll organise the groups and give a bit of direction for portraits, and the rest of the time I stay out of the way.

There are four packages, from the Half Day (6 hours) to The Full Shebang (12 hours). The Full Day covers 10 hours, from morning prep into the evening. Albums come with The Full Day + Album and The Full Shebang. Every package includes 20 sneak peeks within 48 hours, a highlights slideshow, a private online gallery with unlimited downloads, a personalised timeline and every image edited individually by me. How long will it take to receive our wedding photos?
You’ll have 20 sneak peeks within 48 hours and a highlights slideshow within a week, which usually keeps the excitement under control. The full gallery comes once I’ve edited every image myself, and I’ll talk you through timings before the wedding.
How do we book you as our Buckinghamshire wedding photographer?
Drop me a message through my contact page, or send me a DM on Instagram. We’ll have a chat about your day, and if it feels like a good fit, a contract and a 20% deposit secure your date. The balance isn’t due until 7 days before the wedding.
Do you offer engagement photo shoots as well?
Yes, they’re £300 and can be added to any package. They’re a good chance for us to get to know each other, and for you to get used to having a camera pointed at you before the wedding, so the day itself feels easy.
How do we choose the right wedding photography package for our intimate wedding?
The Half Day is usually the one. It’s 6 hours, which covers the main moments without paying for time you don’t need. If even that’s more than you need, say for a small register office wedding, get in touch and we’ll work out something that fits.
Can family and friends view and order prints from our wedding?
Yes. Your photos go into a private online gallery you can share with family and friends. They can view and download them, and order prints through the online store.
What makes Buckinghamshire special for wedding photography?
Variety, mostly. Proper countryside barns in the north around Buckingham, big old houses like Horwood House, and the Chiltern Hills further south, where Rackleys looks out over the views. For photos, it means plenty of different looks without going far from your guests.
