The gaming room brought out another side of the celebration. Arcade machines, table football and the couple’s own Nintendo Wii made for plenty of candid moments. Adults get properly competitive around old games after a drink. It’s a fact of life.
Later, Ashley and his band played live. The dance floor filled quickly and stayed full. I photographed the cake cutting, first dance and dad and daughter dance, then spent the rest of the evening moving through the room and following the energy rather than asking people to line up.

I got there early to get to know the space and look for spots that would work without pulling the couple away for ages. Later on, Imogen’s dad helped with lighting and a member of staff pointed out a spot I hadn’t seen before. Fresh eyes and a bit of help go a long way.
Around 15 minutes is normally enough for portraits that feel relaxed and give you a little breather together. Imogen and Ashley were happy to head outside again later for something more creative, then go straight back to their guests.
