Crockwell Farm Wedding Photography

Renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty, Crockwell Farm stands as one of Northamptonshire’s most stunning wedding venues, offering an exclusive service that grants complete access to their facilities across three memorable days. Established in 2002, Crockwell Farm boasts uninterrupted vistas of the South Northamptonshire countryside.

Nestled within picturesque rural environs near the borders of Oxfordshire and Warwickshire, and conveniently close to the M40 and M1 motorways, Crockwell Farm is surrounded by the serene allure of nature, rendering it an ideal setting for weddings of various sizes. The venue comprises a charming 17th-century vaulted ceremony barn, fully insulated permanent starlit marquees, and expansive gardens and grounds, all meticulously curated to provide the perfect backdrop for your special day.

For couples seeking a civil ceremony, Crockwell Farm offers three distinctive options on-site, including the enchanting prospect of outdoor ceremonies nestled within the orchard. Moreover, it serves as an ideal locale for those contemplating a church wedding, enabling receptions at the venue post a religious ceremony at one of the nearby picturesque churches, such as St. Nicholas in the village of Eydon, merely a mile away from Crockwell.

Distinguishing itself among Northamptonshire wedding venues, Crockwell Farm extends dedicated accommodations for the bride, groom, immediate family, and friends. The farm cottages house nine spacious bedrooms, fostering an exclusive “home away from home” experience spanning three days and two nights.

The Vaulted Barn

Dating back to the 1700s, our stone vaulted barn stands as an integral part of the original farm structures. Originally serving as an agricultural building, it underwent a meticulous restoration in the early 2000s. This transformation marked the beginning of our journey in hosting intimate weddings and parties. Presently, the barn retains its historic charm and continues to serve as the quintessential romantic setting for wedding ceremonies.

Capable of accommodating up to 86 guests, the barn’s inherent allure requires minimal adornment. The ambiance is further enhanced with the gentle glow of church candles, thoughtfully lit before your ceremony, and perhaps complemented by tasteful floral arrangements.

The Saddle Room Bar

Adjacent to the vaulted barn and starlit marquee, bridging the way into the breakfast room, stands the recently renovated bar, a pivotal feature of our venue. The refurbishment, completed in Spring 2020, has rendered the bar an inviting space equipped with underfloor heating, showcasing beautiful oak timbers, and featuring a charming fireplace, creating a warm and welcoming ambiance.

Serving as a central hub, the bar serves multiple purposes throughout your special day. It’s where guests gather before the ceremony, and it remains a focal point throughout the wedding celebrations. Operating from an hour before the ceremony until the closing time, typically around 12:30 am, the bar offers a diverse selection of premium beers and ales, including Birra Moretti, Heineken, Doom Bar, and Guinness. Additionally, it boasts an extensive collection of gins and spirits, catering to varying tastes and preferences.

The Starlit Marquee

The marquee at Crockwell, nestled adjacent to the bar within a well-insulated structure, offers an exquisite setting enhanced by panoramic vistas of the Northamptonshire countryside. It serves as a versatile canvas, allowing couples to fashion their personalised wedding theme. Adorned with a charming fairy light canopy, suspended large hoops embellished with foliage, and the choice of either round tables draped in white table linen or rustic long tables, the marquee exudes inherent beauty.

To facilitate your event, they provide an array of essentials such as crockery, cutlery, glassware, and chairs. Additionally, optional props including balustrades and urns are available. The recent 2020 refurbishment introduced underfloor heating and tastefully neutral flooring, enhancing the marquee’s comfort and aesthetic appeal.

Encouraging boundless creativity, couples are welcomed to unleash their imagination for decorations, though the marquee stands beautifully on its own. Table centers are the only essential addition, keeping embellishments to a minimum. The privilege of accessing the venue from 2 pm the day before the wedding grants couples the cherished opportunity to bring their vision to life, a treasured aspect of the Crockwell wedding experience.

With its flexible layout, the marquee accommodates both ceremonies and receptions for up to 200 guests, providing ample space for couples to craft their dream celebration.

The Gardens

Crockwell, a privately owned 400-acre farm, holds its venue and farmhouse nestled at the heart of this expansive estate. Enveloped by picturesque fields on all sides, the location is an idyllic, secluded, and remarkably beautiful setting. The meticulously tended gardens, curated and cared for annually by owner Hermione, stand as a testament to her dedication in maintaining Crockwell’s year-round beauty.

During the summer months and in favorable weather, the gardens serve as a charming backdrop for reception drinks and canapés beneath the sprawling canopy of the magnificent Walnut tree. Guests often indulge in garden games and entertainment, taking advantage of the plethora of photo opportunities that abound in this serene setting.

Adjacent to the gardens lies the Orchard, featuring a tree-lined aisle and a permanent gazebo, providing an enchanting space for outdoor ceremonies regardless of guest count. This picturesque area offers an idyllic setting for couples seeking an open-air celebration amidst the natural beauty of Crockwell.

Orchard Pavilion

Stroll through our gardens and discover the Orchard, a serene setting adorned with mature lime trees, field maples, mountain ash, cherry, and damson trees. This natural oasis offers an ideal backdrop for enchanting al fresco wedding ceremonies. The pavilion within the Orchard is thoughtfully equipped to cater to the legal requirements of a civil ceremony and boasts a stellar sound system perfect for music and speeches.

Following the ceremony, a leisurely return down the aisle leads guests back to the garden, where the garden bar awaits, serving delightful reception drinks and canapés. While planning an outdoor ceremony is delightful, they understand the importance of preparing for unforeseen weather conditions. As part of our planning process, they ask couples to nominate either the vaulted barn or starlit marquee as alternative ceremony locations in case of inclement weather. This contingency plan ensures a seamless and stress-free celebration, no matter the elements.

The Breakfast Room

As part of our 2020 renovations, they introduced a stunning banqueting room, the breakfast room, as a noteworthy addition to Crockwell. Situated adjacent to the bar and accessible through a sizable rolling door, this contemporary space embodies style and sophistication—an ideal spot to convene for a hearty breakfast both on the morning of your wedding and the subsequent day.

At Crockwell, breakfasts are truly special, designed to be savoured and enjoyed at a relaxed pace. Our morning ritual features a delightful spread, including fresh fruit, homemade granola, yogurts, and toast. Following this, guests indulge in a cooked breakfast crafted from locally sourced free-range sausages, bacon, eggs, along with organic mushrooms and tomatoes from our nearby village.

For a lighter option on the wedding morning, the bridal party might opt for bagels paired with smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, offering a delicious start to the day’s festivities.

The morning after the wedding, our “hangover breakfast” takes place around 9:30 am. It’s an opportunity for everyone to gather, recount the events of the previous day, and bid fond farewells before embarking on married life—hopefully heading towards a relaxing honeymoon. This ritual provides a perfect conclusion to the celebrations at Crockwell, allowing cherished moments to linger and be shared before departing.

Bridal Prep Room

The dedicated prep room, exclusively designed for wedding day preparations, caters to all your needs. Furnished with a bench complemented by comfortable chairs and mirrors, it’s an ideal space for hairstyling. Additionally, tall chairs are provided to facilitate the work of your makeup artist.

Equipped with a convenient kitchenette, the room ensures a ready supply of tea, coffee, bubbly beverages, and snacks to keep everyone refreshed throughout the morning. Ample natural light floods the room through expansive windows and an enormous roof light, enhancing the ambiance for a relaxing and well-lit preparation experience.

Why Crockwell Farm is Perfect for Wedding Photography

From a wedding photographer’s point of view, the great thing about Crockwell farm is that there is so much variety to the venue. Some venues can be quite limited in terms of the amount of space available and this can sometimes mean that you end up taking similar photographs each time you go there. This isn’t the case with Crockwell Farm however. As it is so large, I know for a fact I would never have to take the same photo twice.
