A Spring Wedding at The White Hart in Bedfordshire

Emily & Victoria’s Wedding at The White Hart in Ampthill

Join me as I reminisce about the delightful spring wedding I had the pleasure of photographing for Victoria and Emily at The White Hart Hotel in Ampthill, Bedfordshire. It was my first time capturing a wedding at this charming Grade II-listed, 18th-century coaching inn, and I sincerely hope it won’t be the last. The White Hart proves to be an ideal setting for intimate and informal weddings, blessings, and civil ceremonies.

Before finalising their decision to book me, Victoria and Emily wanted to meet in person to ensure we were a good fit. We met at a restaurant in Rushden Lakes, where we had the chance to connect, talk, and delve into the details of their special day.

Our connection was instant, and shortly after our meeting, they entrusted me with capturing their wedding. While virtual meetings have their merits, there’s something irreplaceable about face-to-face interactions, and I believe it strengthens the bond between couples and their photographer.

Victoria and Emily, with their laid-back demeanor, great sense of humor, and evident love for each other, shared their heartwarming story of how they met. It was a tale of true love, and it was clear that they were a perfect match.

In the weeks leading up to their wedding, we had another meeting at The White Hart, allowing me to familiarise myself with the venue and strategise for the day. Over tea, we went through their wedding timeline and plans. The venue has a stunning garden behind it, only open to the public a few days each year, which was an unexpected bonus for the couple as their wedding date coincided with one of these rare open days. This allowed us to use the beautiful space for their couple portraits, creating magical memories.

Anticipation grew after our second meeting, and I looked forward to capturing the essence of Victoria and Emily’s personalities on their wedding day. Their infectious spirit assured me it would be an incredible celebration.

A few weeks later, I found myself back in Bedfordshire, fully equipped to document every moment of Victoria and Emily’s wedding day. I was booked for the whole-day package, starting from the bridal preparations and extending into the lively evening festivities, including an epic dancefloor showcase.

Capturing the getting-ready moments for both brides was made convenient as they were just a few rooms apart at The White Hart. Emily’s room exuded high energy and excitement, while Victoria’s space was more relaxed, reflecting her admitted nervousness with a constant smile. A special first look was captured for both couples – Emily with her Dad and Grandad, and Victoria with her Nan – each moment radiating beauty and genuine reactions.

Did I mention the delightful inclusion of the couple’s two dogs? Pets at weddings add an extra layer of joy, as they are cherished members of the family.

After morning preparations were over, I headed to the barn ceremony room, which would later be transformed into the reception space. The weather was perfect, allowing guests to relish the outdoor space at The White Hart. Laughter and smiles filled the air as family and friends celebrated the union. The ceremony, marked by the couple’s stunning presence, was a room brimming with emotion.

Post-ceremony, the newlyweds, accompanied by their well-behaved dogs, made a stylish exit for the confetti shot, with a mid-path smooch that garnered applause. Group formals followed, and we ventured to the enchanting gardens for couple portraits. The well-maintained grounds provided a picturesque backdrop, ensuring a quiet and creative space for capturing timeless images.

As a Bedfordshire Wedding Photographer, it’s amazing to have wedding venues like this!

Returning to The White Hart for the wedding breakfast and speeches, the heartfelt words brought tears to many eyes. As the sun set, we ventured out for more portraits, fulfilling the couple’s desire for additional photo moments. The energy on the dancefloor during the reception was infectious, with family and friends showcasing their best dance moves.

As the day unfolded with speed, the cake was cut, the first dance concluded, and the dancefloor came alive with exuberance. Packed with energy and joy, the day concluded in a blur, and I packed up with the satisfaction of having captured unforgettable moments for the couple.

A heartfelt thank you to Emily, Victoria, and their family and friends for their warm hospitality. Special kudos to The White Hart staff for ensuring the couple had an extraordinary day. Lastly, congratulations on the baby news – may your journey into parenthood be filled with a lifetime of happiness.
