Sadie & Tom’s Woodland Wedding at The Woodlands at Hothorpe

Sadie and Tom’s wedding at The Woodlands at Hothorpe in September 2025 was calm in the best possible way. From the moment guests arrived, everything felt unhurried, natural, and exactly where it was meant to be.

Set amongst the trees on the border of Northamptonshire and Leicestershire, the day unfolded at an easy pace. Sunshine filtered through the woodland, conversations lingered a little longer, and there was a real sense of people being present rather than rushing from one moment to the next.

It was relaxed, emotional without being overwhelming, and quietly joyful from start to finish.

A Unique Woodland Wedding Venue on the Northamptonshire and Leicestershire Border

The Woodlands at Hothorpe is an exclusive use wedding venue that genuinely feels tucked away from the outside world.

Surrounded by trees and nature, it blends outdoor ceremony spaces with light filled indoor areas and thoughtful modern touches. On site accommodation, including the iconic Treehouse Suite, means the day flows naturally without guests needing to disappear off site.

It’s the kind of venue that doesn’t need dressing up. The setting does the work for you.

Morning Prep Surrounded by Nature

Sadie got ready in one of the lovely little houses just outside the main venue, still very much part of The Woodlands. The morning felt calm and relaxed, with plenty of time and space for things to unfold naturally.

There was a little girl there who was so excited to be involved in the day, proudly stepping into her role as flower girl. Capturing her joy and excitement was such a lovely part of the morning.

One of the most emotional moments came when Sadie had a first look with her children. Big hugs, tears, and a lot of feeling in that room. A grounding, meaningful moment before everything else began.

Tom got ready on site too, tucked away in one of the chalets on the grounds. He and the boys spent part of the morning playing poker, something I’d never seen during groom prep before, and such a relaxed way to start the day.

An Outdoor Ceremony Beneath the Trees

The ceremony took place outdoors, beneath the trees, with sunshine filtering through the leaves throughout.

It was registrar led and full of genuine emotion. Guests looked so happy for Sadie and Tom, completely invested in the moment from start to finish.

As they walked back down the aisle together, confetti was thrown right there in the ceremony space. It flowed naturally, without stopping the momentum of the moment, and felt like part of the celebration rather than a pause in it.

Relaxed Portraits in the Woodland

Portraits were taken around the grounds, close to the ceremony area, giving Sadie and Tom a bit of privacy without pulling them away from their guests for long.

There’s a small bridge tucked away on site that works beautifully for portraits, and we made the most of that along with the surrounding woodland. The couple were relaxed, had fun with it, and enjoyed the moment together.

Group photos stayed light and easy too. No long waits, no stress, just everyone enjoying being together.

An Evening Full of Energy

As the evening arrived, the energy shifted naturally.

The dancefloor filled quickly and stayed full. Guests gave it their all, not in a chaotic way, but with real enthusiasm and joy. The kind of atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable joining in.

Sadie and Tom chose not to step away for evening portraits, preferring to spend every possible minute with their loved ones instead. A choice I completely respect. Being present always comes first.

Why Sadie & Tom Chose Me

Sadie and Tom wanted someone who would guide them when needed, blend in naturally, and capture the day as it felt rather than turning it into a photoshoot.

Their kind words afterwards honestly mean everything. Knowing they felt supported, relaxed, and surprised by how much emotion was captured is exactly what I aim for.
