Oh, what a joy it was to revisit this picturesque gem of a wedding venue in my hometown of Northamptonshire. I still remember attending a friend’s wedding there years ago, and thinking, “I’d love to capture a wedding at Dodford Manor one day.” Well, 2023 made that dream come true not once, but twice! And guess what? More weddings are lined up for 2024 – how brilliant is that!
Enter Kim and Sam – the totally loved-up duo who booked me for the whole day, promising a day filled with laughter, joy, and all-around fun vibes. Our Zoom call left me convinced that their wedding was going to be a blast. Kim and Sam, being the easygoing and fun-loving couple they are, set the tone for an unforgettable celebration!
The big day finally arrived, and I eagerly headed out to capture the pre-wedding excitement. Kim and her bridesmaids started the day at a local hotel, wrapping up their preparations in the fabulous bridal beauty booth at Dodford Manor. Laughter echoed through the air as they enjoyed every moment, and even Sam joined in the pre-ceremony banter with the arriving guests.
After catching the fun with Sam and his best men, I raced back to Kim getting ready, to document an emotional first look between the bride to be, her parents, and the bridesmaids. The pride and joy on their faces were truly heartwarming.
The Mortain Barn at Dodford Manor is the perfect space for a Wedding ceremony!
With everyone in their seats, the ceremony began in the enchanting Mortain Barn. Sam looked sharp in his suit, and Kim was an absolute vision in her wedding dress. As they walked down the aisle, happiness radiated from them, creating a magical atmosphere accentuated by a winter wonderland complete with a dazzling Christmas tree.
The ceremony unfolded seamlessly, and in the blink of an eye, Kim and Sam were officially Mr. and Mrs. The confetti throw that followed marked the start of the drinks reception – a tad chilly, but the Mortain Barn provided a cozy escape. While guests sipped and nibbled, family and friends posed for group portraits outside. I also stole a moment with the newlyweds for some formal portraits, as they wanted to prioritize time with loved ones.
Once we had finished photographing groups and portraits, we all moved over to the Oak Barn for the wedding breakfast, speeches, and evening reception – if you’ve been to Dodford Manor, you know the space is stunning. The day whizzed by, and before I knew it, I was capturing the couple’s first dance. Trust me, wedding days are like a whirlwind – so the trick is to savour every moment. I tell every couple to enjoy every minute of their day, as believe me, it seriously goes by so quickly. The dancefloor was alive with energy, showcasing the best dance moves, and the sparklers added that extra touch of magic, a personal highlight for me.
