Kamal and Ben’s Beautiful Swallows Nest Barn Wedding in Warwickshire
Some weddings feel warm from the moment you arrive, and Kamal and Ben’s at Swallows Nest Barn was one of them. Out in the Warwickshire countryside, with a woodland ceremony, a relaxed crowd and a couple who cared far more about being with their people than posing for endless photos.

A Barn Venue with a Woodland Ceremony Space
Swallows Nest Barn has tall stone walls, warm brickwork and countryside all around it, and it feels welcoming straight away. I’m one of their recommended suppliers, and the woodland ceremony space is a big part of why I like it. It’s a tucked away clearing in the trees, so the light comes through the leaves rather than blasting everyone in full sun.
With the late June sun coming through the trees, it was a lovely spot for a ceremony.
Relaxed From Start to Finish
Kamal and Ben wanted their day to feel relaxed above all else. No faff, no fuss, just time with the people they love. You could see it everywhere: kids tearing around the courtyard, family chatting in the sunshine, and the two of them never far from the action.
They asked for just five minutes of portraits at golden hour. No long session, no disappearing for half an hour, just a quick moment together while the sun dropped behind the fields, then straight back to the party. It suited them perfectly.
A Sunny Summer Wedding in Warwickshire
The weather was on their side from the start. Warm air, bright skies and golden light all day. Sunshine through the trees during a woodland ceremony is one of those things you just can’t plan for, so we took it gratefully.
Bridal Prep at Home
Kamal got ready at her family home, and the house was buzzing. Kids having the time of their lives, everyone rushing about getting sorted, and that mix of nerves and laughter you only really get on a wedding morning. Kamal surprised her bridesmaids and flower girls with gifts, which went down very well.
Their first look outside the front of the house was calm, quiet and full of emotion. A lovely way to start the day.
Groom Prep and a Brilliant Reaction
Just up the road, Ben was getting ready at home too. One of my favourite moments of the day was him opening the gift Kamal had left for him. His reaction was priceless, and you could see exactly how much it meant. Small moment, but it set the tone for everything that followed.
A Woodland Ceremony Full of Emotion
Their ceremony took place in the woodland clearing at Swallows Nest Barn. There were tears during the readings, plenty of emotional guests, and a registrar who made it feel personal, with a good bit of laughter mixed in.
Confetti Under the Trees
As the ceremony ended, guests lined the woodland aisle for confetti. With sunlight catching the petals under the trees, Kamal and Ben walked back down the aisle grinning from ear to ear.
Golden Hour in the Fields, Five Minutes Flat
Later on, when the sun dipped low over the countryside, we wandered out into the fields. Kamal and Ben only wanted a few minutes, and it was plenty. No stiff posing, no awkward instructions, just a moment for the two of them to breathe and enjoy the evening light.
The golden hour light across the fields at Swallows Nest Barn did most of the work, and they were back at the party before anyone noticed they’d gone.
Kids, Cake and Guests Having a Great Time
Days like this are brilliant for candid photography. The kids ran wild across the courtyard and fields while the grown ups soaked up the sun. Nobody was performing for the camera, and Kamal and Ben’s wedding was full of those honest little moments.
One of the funniest bits came after the cake cut, when friends and family started feeding the couple slices of cake. Completely chaotic, completely unplanned, and a lot of fun to photograph.
A Dance Floor with Serious Energy
The evening went up a level when a live drummer joined the DJ. The dance floor never emptied. At one point Kamal and Ben were lifted up by their guests, with everyone shouting, dancing and laughing around them. The kind of night people talk about for years.
Why I Like Photographing Weddings at Swallows Nest Barn
For couples considering Swallows Nest Barn, it’s a really good one for a relaxed wedding. Warm rustic barn, outdoor ceremony spaces and quiet countryside, with natural light and plenty of texture for candid and creative photography.
It doesn’t need much dressing up. The character’s already there.
