Cranford Hall Autumn Wedding

Cranford Hall, a stunning, exclusive, mansion wedding venue located in Kettering, Northamptonshire.

During September I had the pleasure of photographing Vanessa & Dan’s Autumn wedding at a traditional Georgian mansion, otherwise known as Cranford Hall. Admittedly I hadn’t even heard of this venue until the couple reached out. But this is what I love about my job, I never know where I will end up, and Cranford Hall is certainly a hidden gem, perfect for any unique occasion.

This is an exclusive wedding venue too, meaning they only hold a small number of events at the venue each year, making it that extra special. As a whole, it’s a very tranquil setting surrounded by fields and horses. It is a perfect place to sip your G&T, watch the sun go down, and have the best time with your nearest and dearest.

Anyway back to the wedding…

I met up with the couple at Cranford Hall a few weeks before their wedding day. We spent a good amount of time walking around, scoping out the best spots for photographs, and having a good old-fashioned chin wag. They also brought along their daughter, who had a lot of fun running around the grounds. I came away from this meetup, buzzing, as they really did have some lovely events happening throughout their day.

The full day would not be set at Cranford Hall, as the couple wished to hold their ceremony closer to home (For sentimental reasons). The ceremony took place at a stunning little church called ‘Woodford St Mary the Virgin‘, located in Kettering.

Their wedding day soon rolled around, and I arrived at the couple’s home nice and early to capture bridal prep. Upon arrival, things were already in full swing, with the makeup artists and hair stylists doing their thing. The ladies enjoyed a cheeky glass of bubbly while getting ready, and everywhere I looked there were smiles.

Vanessa looked absolutely stunning in her wedding dress, and her bridesmaids could not have looked more proud when they saw her during their first look in the garden.

I left Vanessa’s home before everyone else, so I could capture guests arriving at the church, as well as capture Vanessa and her Dad who would be pulling up just before the ceremony began. The weather was perfect, and everywhere I looked, guests were smiling, ready for the day ahead. Dan was admittedly a little nervous, but you never would have guessed it from looking at him.

Vanessa and her Dad soon pulled up, and her Dad looked so, so proud of his daughter. I made my way into the church once I had captured them, and before we knew it, the ceremony was in full swing. I don’t get the chance to capture traditional church weddings that often, so when I do it’s a real pleasure. The service was beautiful and full of so many heartwarming moments. Dan got a little emotional at points (and rightly so!) and before they knew it, they were officially ‘Mr & Mrs’. After the ceremony, we all lined up outside the church, and of course, had to do the traditional confetti throw. (Which is always a lot of fun to capture!) We then all headed to Cranford hall, where the rest of the day would be spent.

Once we all arrived at Cranford Hall, guests enjoyed themselves by drinking champagne, mingling, and having a laugh. We also spent some time photographing groups on the lawn, which took next to no time at all, ensuring everyone could spend as much time with one another as possible.

The live music at this wedding was something else, and as the weather was so nice, they had set themselves up outside, under a marquee. Vanessa’s family are very, very talented when it comes to music. Vanessa’s Dad in particular is incredible on the Saxophone ( He gave us an unforgettable performance during the wedding reception) and another member of the family is an amazing singer. The live band performed throughout the day, and I have to admit, it was probably the best live music I have ever heard at a wedding.

The rest of the day went by so so fast but again was absolutely packed full of lovely, heartwarming, genuine moments that will live with me forever. From the speeches to the dancefloor, people were smiling, having fun, and enjoying the day to the max! The children were also kept busy, as there was space to run around, and games to play, which was lovely.

The dancefloor got very lively during the evening, which was so much fun to capture. What I love about the dancefloor, is that it’s one space where people can truly let their hair down, and be themselves.

I would like to thank Vanessa, Dan, and their family and friends for making me feel so welcome on the day. I would like to say thank you too for putting trust in my vision. In fact, one of the portraits from the day won a wedding award with ‘Wedisson’ which is pretty cool.

I wish you both a lifetime of happiness together x
