Zerrin & James’ Relaxed Family Wedding at Ashton Lodge Country House

Zerrin and James’ wedding was the kind of day that unfolds naturally, no rushing, no pressure, just people enjoying being together. Calm, warm, and centred around family, it was a wedding that quietly built throughout the day before turning the energy up when it mattered most.

Held at Ashton Lodge Country House, the day had a relaxed flow to it from start to finish. Thoughtful moments, plenty of laughter, and one entrance that nobody saw coming.

A Morning That Felt Easy From the Start

Zerrin got ready at Ashton Lodge in the bridal prep area, and the morning set the tone straight away. Relaxed, unrushed, and full of excitement, without any of the usual wedding morning stress.

One of my favourite parts was watching the children get ready. The little girls absolutely loved putting on their dresses, spinning around, laughing, and soaking up the attention. Those moments are easy to miss if you’re not looking for them, but they matter just as much as anything else that happens later.

James and the groomsmen were getting ready in a hotel room at the venue. A cheeky drink, plenty of laughs, and a very calm groom, exactly how you want things to feel before a ceremony.

A Ceremony Entrance Nobody Will Forget

The ceremony took place indoors and had a relaxed, registrar style feel. Everything was flowing along nicely, until the real surprise appeared.

Zerrin and James’ children came down the aisle sitting together in a little jeep. It completely caught everyone off guard. The room instantly filled with laughter, smiles, and that kind of joy you cannot stage. The kids were loving every second, waving as they rolled down the aisle with huge grins on their faces.

From a photography point of view, it was gold. From a human point of view, it was just brilliant.

A Confetti Moment Full of Energy

After the ceremony, guests did not hold back. The confetti moment was packed with energy, handfuls flying everywhere, laughter all around, and Zerrin and James right in the middle of it all.

No gentle sprinkling here. Everyone fully committed, which always makes for the best photos.

Portraits Done Their Way

Zerrin and James were clear that they did not want to disappear for ages during the drinks reception, which I always respect. Instead, we saved their portraits for later in the day, keeping things relaxed and natural.

We used the grounds at Ashton Lodge Country House, letting things unfold without forcing anything. As the light dropped, they were more than happy for me to get creative with lighting, which opened the door to something a little different.

Later on, we used the stunning tree on the grounds for night portraits. With no golden hour, I created the light myself, silhouetting them against the tree for something calm, creative, and timeless.

No sunset needed.

A Dancefloor That Found Its Rhythm

The evening started gently, but once the dancefloor filled, guests properly got involved. No standing around, no easing into it, just people giving it their all and enjoying the moment.

It was one of those dancefloors that builds steadily, and before you know it, everyone is in, laughing, dancing, and fully committed.

Why Zerrin & James Chose Me

Zerrin and James wanted photography that captured the joy of the day without it ever feeling intrusive. They wanted someone relaxed, friendly, and professional, who would blend in and let the day happen naturally.

Hearing that guests commented on how at ease they felt, and that the photos brought the day flooding back for them afterwards, means everything. That is always the aim.

Thinking About Getting Married at Ashton Lodge?

Ashton Lodge is a brilliant choice if you’re looking for a private, family focused wedding venue. The venue is exclusively yours for the day, which makes everything feel calmer and more personal. The staff go above and beyond, and the grounds work beautifully, whatever the season.

It’s a venue that really lets you slow the day down and enjoy it.

A Final Word

Zerrin and James, thank you both, and thank you to all of your guests, for making me feel so welcome. It was a genuine pleasure to be part of your wedding day and to capture such a joyful, family centred celebration.

Days like this are exactly why I photograph weddings the way I do.
