Emily & Victoria’s Wedding at The White Hart in Ampthill

Join me as I reminisce about the delightful spring wedding I had the pleasure of photographing for Victoria and Emily at The White Hart Hotel in Ampthill, Bedfordshire. It was my first time capturing a wedding at this charming Grade II-listed, 18th-century coaching inn, and I sincerely hope it won’t be the last. The White Hart proves to be an ideal setting for intimate and informal weddings, blessings, and civil ceremonies.

Before finalising their decision to book me, Victoria and Emily wanted to meet in person to ensure we were a good fit. We met at a restaurant in Rushden Lakes, where we had the chance to connect, talk, and delve into the details of their special day.

Our connection was instant, and shortly after our meeting, they entrusted me with capturing their wedding. While virtual meetings have their merits, there’s something irreplaceable about face-to-face interactions, and I believe it strengthens the bond between couples and their photographer.

Victoria and Emily, with their laid-back demeanor, great sense of humor, and evident love for each other, shared their heartwarming story of how they met. It was a tale of true love, and it was clear that they were a perfect match.

In the weeks leading up to their wedding, we had another meeting at The White Hart, allowing me to familiarise myself with the venue and strategise for the day. Over tea, we went through their wedding timeline and plans. The venue has a stunning garden behind it, only open to the public a few days each year, which was an unexpected bonus for the couple as their wedding date coincided with one of these rare open days. This allowed us to use the beautiful space for their couple portraits, creating magical memories.

Anticipation grew after our second meeting, and I looked forward to capturing the essence of Victoria and Emily’s personalities on their wedding day. Their infectious spirit assured me it would be an incredible celebration.

A few weeks later, I found myself back in Bedfordshire, fully equipped to document every moment of Victoria and Emily’s wedding day. I was booked for the whole-day package, starting from the bridal preparations and extending into the lively evening festivities, including an epic dancefloor showcase.

Capturing the getting-ready moments for both brides was made convenient as they were just a few rooms apart at The White Hart. Emily’s room exuded high energy and excitement, while Victoria’s space was more relaxed, reflecting her admitted nervousness with a constant smile. A special first look was captured for both couples – Emily with her Dad and Grandad, and Victoria with her Nan – each moment radiating beauty and genuine reactions.

Did I mention the delightful inclusion of the couple’s two dogs? Pets at weddings add an extra layer of joy, as they are cherished members of the family.
