A Relaxed and Joyful Spring Wedding at Dodford Manor
A Barn Wedding Venue That Always Delivers
There’s just something magical about a barn wedding, and Dodford Manor in Northamptonshire never fails to deliver. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing many weddings at this award-winning venue, and each one brings something beautifully unique.
In April, I had the absolute joy of capturing Babz and Gary’s wedding day at this stunning countryside barn, and it was an absolute belter from start to finish.
Meeting the Couple – A Perfect Match for My Style
A few weeks before the big day, I met Babz and Gary in Milton Keynes to run through their wedding plans and timeline. Straight away, I could tell they were my kind of people—laid-back, funny, and totally focused on having a fun, stress-free wedding surrounded by their favourite people.
We chatted, laughed, and I left our meeting buzzing with excitement. It was clear this was going to be a wedding full of real, emotional moments—and that’s exactly what I love to capture.
The Wedding Morning – Sunshine and Smiles at Dodford Manor
When the day rolled around, I arrived early at Dodford Manor, with the spring sunshine already warming up the gardens and barns. It wasn’t long before Gary rocked up with his groomsmen, all looking sharp and full of energy. The atmosphere was brilliant right from the get-go.
One moment that stood out was when Babz’s dad arrived with a heartfelt gift for Gary—a beautiful watch, which he gently fastened around Gary’s wrist. It was a quiet, emotional moment that said so much, and I knew it would be one of those treasured memories they’d look back on forever.
Babz’s Arrival – A Bride Who Knew What She Wanted
Babz arrived at the venue shortly after, calm and collected, looking incredible. One of the things I really appreciated was how she wanted me to focus more on the candid moments between guests rather than lots of pre-ceremony prep shots. It’s always brilliant when a couple trusts me to capture the natural, unposed moments—the real heartbeat of the day.
So while the girls got ready, I floated between guests arriving, capturing hugs, laughter, and the kind of interactions that often go unnoticed but mean the most.

The Ceremony – Love, Laughter, and a Few Happy Tears
As guests filtered into the Mortain Barn for the ceremony, you could feel the buzz in the air. This was a big wedding, and every single guest brought their A-game when it came to energy and emotion.
The ceremony itself was packed with laughter, happy tears, and everything in between. Babz and Gary were beaming the entire time, totally wrapped up in the moment and in each other. I’m always on the lookout for those little reactions—the proud look from a parent, a stifled laugh from a best mate—and this ceremony had them in spades.
Drinks Reception – Laid-Back Vibes and Candid Moments
After the “I dos”, everyone spilled out into the gardens for the drinks reception. The sun kept shining, and the atmosphere was absolutely electric. Kids ran wild, guests sipped drinks, and the sound of laughter filled the air.
We took a few relaxed group photos and snuck off for a short couple’s session, but Babz and Gary were clear—they didn’t want to spend ages posing. They wanted to soak up every second with their loved ones, and I’m all for that. We got some beautiful, natural portraits in just a few minutes, then let them dive straight back into the celebrations.

Speeches and Reception – Emotion, Laughter and One Hell of a Party
Next up was the wedding breakfast inside the Oak Barn, a rustic and cosy space that looked incredible. Before the food came out, it was time for the wedding speeches—and wow, did they deliver.
There were so many laughs, a few emotional moments, and even a couple of surprise tears. As always, I kept my camera at the ready, capturing those honest, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it expressions that tell the real story of the day.
Once the plates were cleared and the evening guests began to arrive, the energy cranked up a notch.
Cake, First Dance, and a Dancefloor to Remember
Before the evening fully kicked off, Babz and Gary cut their cake and stepped into their first dance. It was a beautiful, high enery moment—and then the party absolutely exploded.
The wedding DJ had the dancefloor packed all night long. From the first track to the last, it was full of people letting loose, pulling moves, and giving it their all. There were some seriously talented dancers in the mix too—I’m talking spins, dips, even a moonwalk or two.
The energy was unreal, and I found myself grinning behind the camera the whole night.

Final Thoughts – A Day to Remember at Dodford Manor
From the heartfelt ceremony to the epic dancefloor, Babz and Gary’s wedding at Dodford Manor was everything a wedding should be—fun, emotional, laid-back, and full of love.
A massive thank you to the two of them for being such a joy to photograph, and to all their guests for making me feel so welcome. You lot were amazing!
And of course, hats off to the Dodford Manor team, who were absolute legends throughout the day. Nothing was too much trouble, and they made sure everything ran like clockwork.
