My Favourite Photography Moments of 2020

To put it simply, 2020 was one of the strangest, but most productive years I have ever had.

Photographing Weddings in Northampton, to an adventure up Snowdon. Photography still gives me the same buzz as it did ten years ago!

FIRST OFF I WOULD LIKE TO WISH YOU ALL A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Admittedly, I am a little late typing this up; I do usually type this up in December, ready for the New Year. I do have the perfect excuse though; it was due to me editing Michelle & David’s Wedding which took place at the stunning Highgate House. As much as I love typing up blogs, editing will always come first, and rightly so!

So 2020…..where to start? It was an unusual year for all of us, and a very moving time for many as well, full of many ups and downs. I would first off like to say a huge thank you to all of you who have worked so hard and kept this country running through such an arduous time, I hope during 2021, we get back to some sort of ‘normality’.

Usually, with my ‘favourite photography moments of the year’ blog, I would share so many more memorable moments from all the weddings I captured throughout the year. I wish I could do the same in this blog, but I only had the chance to capture three weddings and two engagement-style shoots. (which were all epic, mind you!) I photographed Karen & Martin’s wedding, Elizabeth & George’s big day ( I captured this for a fellow photography friend of mine, ‘Gem Wright photography’), Michelle and David’s pre-wedding photoshoot, as well as their beautiful intimate wedding. And lastly had the pleasure of photographing Kayleigh & Matt’s engagement style photoshoot at the stunning Horwood House, one of my favourite wedding venues in Buckinghamshire.

My style has been ever-evolving over the years, but I can see now more than ever that I am becoming more of a documentary-style wedding photographer, and I also take a lot of joy from creating stunning wedding portraits for brides and grooms.

To make this blog a little different, I am also going to share with you an extensive mixture of photographs that I captured during 2020 in my ‘spare time’ across Northamptonshire and beyond. From family photography to a hike up Mount Snowdon, I had a pretty interesting and varied year, and I am very proud to share these images with you all.

2021 WEDDINGS ARE GOING TO BE AMAZING, I CAN JUST FEEL IT!

CREATING EPIC PORTRAITS, TO SIMPLE WALKS IN THE COUNTRYSIDE WITH MY CAMERA IN HAND, FOR ME, PHOTOGRAPHY IS LIKE NOTHING ELSE.

Even due to Covid, It was still a pretty productive year on my end, as I filled my time during the lockdowns with things to do, as I can imagine many of you did as well. I finally created a YouTube channel, (I do plan to keep creating content, once this lockdown ends!) and I also discovered a love for gardening (Call me Lewis Titchmarsh!) I have been a keen walker for years now, and I discovered so many new and interesting walks throughout the Northamptonshire countryside, which I never knew existed!

I personally love the images which I created with Ady AKA Spookzville. It was great to get creative, trying different things out, and simply learning more about the art I love most, which is of course photography!

What I loved about everything the most, though, was all the extra time I got to spend with my partner and son. During the year I can be pretty much non-stop with photography, which is great, but it can get to the point where I don’t have much time for anyone, as I have deadlines to hit. My partner and Son are incredibly understanding and know I am doing it to benefit all of us in the long run.

To say 2020 was a wasted year would be a lie, I gained so much knowledge on how to run my business more effectively than I have done in the past five years, and now feel more confident than ever in growing my photography business and taking it to the next level. Being a known wedding photographer for Northamptonshire and beyond is becoming a reality, and I wish to continue spreading my photography wings and traveling as far and wide as I can.
